Lavender, the blue gold of Provence

Once a year, the Luberon landscape is transformed and a pleasant fragrance wafts through the air… Lavender, the star of Provence, makes its appearance!

For the pleasure of your eyes, but also to enjoy this sweet fragrance or discover the know-how of the distillation process and the many lavender-based products, book your stay in the Luberon between the end of June and the end of July.

It’s the perfect time of year, and we’ll be delighted to suggest hikes and activities around this emblematic plant!

To understand everything 🧐

The lavender museum in Coustellet is the ideal place to learn all about lavender, its varieties, cultivation and use, etc…

You can round off your visit with a detour to the Les Agnels distillery in Apt. Here, distillation takes place all year round, and everything will be explained to you with passion. There’s also a large store on the estate, and you can take a stroll in the surrounding area, where the scenery is breathtaking during the flowering season.

A feast for the eyes 🤩

To celebrate this emblematic flower 🎉

2 major events are organized in the region during the summer. The lavender festival in Apt, traditionally held in mid-July during the Lavandin harvest, and the lavender festival in Sault, held later in the year due to the difference in altitude.

These two festivals are a great opportunity to meet local producers and artisans, and to take part in some of the region’s major events!
